About the Artist

Since a young boy, Kevin Hynes has been a wildlife artist. Growing up hunting and fishing with his father, he began to draw and paint. In 1983 he attended a taxidermy school in Wisconsin. In just a few years he was one of the top bird taxidermists in the country. At the 1998 National Taxidermist Associations competition he won the “North American Champion” title, his wood duck was the highest scoring mount in the show. The next year he won “Best in World” waterfowl at the 1999 World Taxidermy Championships. He entered four mounts and received the four highest scores. The 1999 World Taxidermy Championship was represented by 19 countries and all 50 states.

Kevin’s birds are on display in museums around the country. His mounts have been featured on the covers of world wide magazines. Some say he brought waterfowl taxidermy to another level with his incredible wood duck mounts. His ability to innovate new ideas and techniques along with his strive for perfection has made him one of the best taxidermists in the world today. He has judged numerous competitions and given seminars around the country. He won the Gulf south carvers competition in 1996 with the first decoy he has ever carved. Kevin caters to artist, carvers and the most discriminating sportsman.
